Special A Review
Contains semi-spoilers. This review was written after only watching the first episode of Special A.
It’s in the air. Not love or anything like that. But, it’s the sweet smell of rivalry. Special A takes television by storm. Revolving around the high school life of Hikari, she takes on Kei Takishima – her rival that she opted to do better ever since Takishima defeated her in a wrestling match while they were both young. However, exceeding Takishima isn’t all that easy as he somehow fine a way to make Hikari’s work blow up in the end.
Not only does Hikari has to work hard to outdo Takishima, she has to maintain a social life as well as keep herself out of trouble since she is the #2 student throughout the whole school – something that Takishima makes fun of all the time. On top of that, being the #2 student, she is part of the elite honor group called Special A. Special A consists of the top 7 students of the school, in which Hikari and Takishima are both a part of.
Outside of competition, everyone finds a way to enjoy life with each other, and they all have fun in the end. However, between Hikari and Takishima, Hikari falls in love with Takishima. How will that affect the feud between both of them? Watch Special A to find out!

In terms of presentation, Special A is well performed containing a smooth sequence of events hardly with much skips throughout the different times of day, or numerous pauses between the show. (For commercials, etc.) On top of that, quality is great in the H.264 version.
For all of you non-Japanese speakers out there, Bakka-Wolf/M3.3.W., GX ST/Oni, and Generation Next Sub Team are currently subbing all episodes to Special A and releasing them on the site. However, you can expect new episodes to surface every Sunday as it airs on that day in Japan. A way to end your weekend or start up your week. Take a shot at Special A and see if you like it.
